        The Publications Department has decided to combine both April and May edtions of the JYSS NPCC Newsletter.        2       A special column on late former Minister For Social Affairs, Mr Othman Wok will be added in commemoration of his passing on April 17, 2017. 3        In our previous statement, we have stated that the newsletter will be distributed on the last week of May. Newsletter April/May Edition SECONDARY 3 SHOOTING COMPETITION Our Secondary 3 NPCC NCOs who got their Marksmanship badge (or close to it, for that matter!) were selected by Mr Tan Han Kiang to represent Junyuan NPCC in the annual shooting competition. Though they did not win the competition, they did persevered and tried their best during the competition. Kudos, NCOs! Also present to provide support is Senior Audrey. _________________________________________________________________________ SECONDARY 3 STANDARD FIRST AID On the 30 th of June 2017, all our Secondary 3 NCOs were declared licensed first aiders after a vigorous two-day course inclusive of the practical and theory tests.
Newsletter April/May Edition SECONDARY 2 VISIT TO TAMPINES NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE CENTRE (NPC) Every student who joins the NPCC will be given a chance to visit the NPC, which is found in all the neighbourhoods in Singapore. The purpose of this visit is to expose our NPCC cadets who just joined NPCC to learn more about our police officers’ daily routines in keeping the respective neighbourhoods safe and sound. It seems that the secondary one NPCC cadets had a great time at the NPC while learning a lot about Tampines NPC such that they were privileged to sit in the policing car! SECONDARY 2 ANTI-NARCOTICS COURSE (SANA) The Anti-Narcotics programme is conducted for Secondary Two cadets by NPCC in collaboration with the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA). MR OTHMAN WOK (1924-2017) Special Column, April/May Newsletter Minister for Social Affairs & Member of Parliament October 1963 – June 1977 Mr Othman Wok, a pioneer generation minister who helped laid the foundation for a multiracial Singapore, died peacefully at the Singapore General Hospital at 12.21 pm on 17 April 2017. He was 92. Mr Othman was one of the 10 Singapore signatories of the 1965 Separation Agreement and a key member of founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew's Cabinet. “He supported Mr Lee in the fight for a multiracial and multi-religious Singapore, and became one of Mr Lee's closest comrades,” the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement. “The Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues are sad to learn of the passing of Mr Othman Wok and wish to convey their deepest condolences to his family.” Singapore's political leaders lauded Mr Othman as a champion for multiracialism, and a patron of sport and social services.
